This particular model has been more of a hobby for me, with no time constraint, so when I have the available time to work on it, outside of my regular job, I keep going back and perfecting everything to the best of my ability. currently working on the outer layers and will be posting that to the above link when they're arranged and shaped to my satisfaction including organizing all the geometry, loops etc. I've been using Geometry Nodes for the shader, along with Nurbs Paths and Curve Modifiers now at the very latest stages, modeling the character's hair. I've been working the last 11 months on a 3D character I modeled from scratch (well, a rounded cube anyway) entirely with Blender, and always looked forward to updates, the details from start to the latest progress on my current project can be found here: So can I confirm that Metal 2 (and thus many not so old Macs up to 2019 I believe) are being cut off by Blender? Or was there some mistake in not including both Metal 2 and Metal 3? A lot of popular games and apps still use Metal 2 and have no plans to update to Metal 3 that I know of so it seems a bit much of a jump to kill OpenGL, Metal, and Metal 2 all in one fell swoop! What do the devs have to say about this? I did not close the thread and I felt like I wasn’t given all the details, and now I’ve looked into this again further and see that in fact my 2014 Mac mini DOES support Metal 2, and I see that Blender continues to add new 4.0.0 alpha uploads to the daily builds… if the situation is that Metal 2 was just bypassed, or dropped along with OpenGL that much wasn’t said, only that OpenGL was discontinued (in alpha daily builds). It was determined by someone that the reason was support for the OpenGL library ended on 7/15/23 and since that was the last upload date I could open (after trying many before and after to finally arrive at that conclusion). I started a thread a week or so back asking why new updates to 4.0.0 alpha would either crash immediately after opening, or just not open at all.
